I have never heard of anyone reading the first chapter and then the last chapter.  I would be so done with the book doing that.  Although I have skipped major amounts of paragraphs to get to the end faster on a great book.

I've rented the DVD's Taken and Rachel getting married.  I'll let you kow how they are.  They're both suppose to be very good.  Also one something about an Electric Mist with Tommy Lee Jones it had 5 stars on the HOllywood Video new release wall.

Just call me crazy, Jonesy. Hehehe!

I have the documentary, Grey Gardensat home on DVD. Jessica Lange and Drew Barrymore are coming out with an HBO movie about Big Edie and Little Edie Beale, cousins of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. I will let you know if it is good or not when I view it.

Grey Gardens interests me a lot.  I look forward to renting the HBO version when available.  Watching the documentary first is something I will do, too.  I thought Rachel Getting Married was an excellent film.

We rented Revolutionary Road drama/slow but extremely well acted by DiCaprio and Winslet.  I really don't think there's a movie that either one of them has done that I didn't like.  I just love the classic beauty of Kate Winslet and the boy next door charm of Leonardo.

Also rented one called Defiance which is a true story about the Belieski(sp) brothers saving thousands of jews moving and building shelter in the forests.  I recommend this one.  After their last stand against the germans their shelter consisted of a school, hospital a city unto itself.

I am looking forward to watching Revolutionary Road. However, I rent all my movies from the local library and the best movies have a long waiting list. That is okay, I can wait.

This past weekend I viewed 27 dresses and Vicky Christina Barcelona. 27 dresses was okay, the last part of the movie was good. VCB was very good and interesting.

Watched the documentary on Grey Gardens which was also good. Those two women were not of this particular world I think.

I saw My Sister's Keeper last weekend and cried my eyes out. I never read the book and now I really want to. It was a touching story that makes you have a reaction whether you want to or not. Makes you see two points of view and realise how difficult a cision this would be. I would recommend it but not sure what about that trailer you saw that bothered you Becca, so not sure if you will like the movie or not. Was it Alec Baldwin? LOL He wasn't bad in it.

Becca and Cindi, I bought Lovely Bones today after reading your post and reading the synopsis. Looks interesting. I am looking for some good summer reading for vacation.

Bubu, Lovely Bones was a good book! I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

I also read My Sister's Keeper which I did not much care for but perhaps the movie is better?

I like to watch old classics so I rented Midnight Cowboy which is excellent. Hard to believe that movie is 40 years old! I also watched the Godfather Trio last week which I enjoyed. I love old movies!

Well, I finally got to see Slumdog Millionaire this past weekend. I admit the opening scene nearly ruined the entire movie for me. Things like that are so distasteful I did not know whether to continue or not but I did. Unfortunately, I disliked the rest of the movie too. Perhaps it was the setting? I don't know but I was disappointed. After all the rave reviews by the critics and the audience, I guess I was expecting something spectacular and all I saw was a movie that was okay.

The other movie I saw was Frost/Nixon which I did not expect to like because it was about politics. However, this movie was great! I really enjoyed the give and take of Nixon/Frost. I do not remember having seen the original interviews but have heard about them for ages. Now I would love to see the interviews. In the paper last night, they were saying the interviews are being shown in the New York area as a way to celebrate the anniversary of the original. Sure would love to see that. The movie was very good and I thorougly enjoyed it.

Stopped at  the library today and picked up Mamma Mia and I have always loved you. I look forward to watching them.

They said on SYTYCD  that there is a movie coming out about Judy Garland and Anne Hatheway plays Judy.  Does anyone have some more info on this movie?

No, LindaJean, I haven't heard anything but I bet Anne Hathaway would be excellent as Judy Garland.

I saw Julie and Julia with my mom the other day.  We loved it!  I didn't know it was a true story.  My mom pointed out the best sellers list in the newspaper on Sunday and Julia Child's cookbook is #5!

Thanks for the "critique" of Julia and Julie, Sue! I will have to wait til it comes out on DVD. Unfortunately our local libraries's funding has been slashed 50% so they might not be ordering all the new movies?

MammaMia stunk but I did enjoy I will always love you. I also saw The Wrestler which was good but disliked Happy Go Lucky.

I know, I know, I am behind the times but I view my movies on DVD from the local library.

We must have different tastes, Mary. I admit I don't like very many musicals but I thought I would like this one with Streep. Oh, well.

I'm a musical fan and have taught my kids to enjoy them too.  I love them all!  Hairspray and A Mighty Wind are two of our current favorites.

I actually bought MamaMia..but STILL have not watched it!  ..i gotta be in the mood (kwim)?

Hubby & I went to see "District 9" last nite.... well, it was different, started out very slow & like a documentary...i wondered if it was gonna get better.  it did, i enjoyed it, i hated the main character at first but ended up rooting for him in the end.
it was pretty bloody & violent & not as much special FX as i had hoped..but still enjoyable.

I saw District 9 and felt the same way. I thought it was a very differnt take on an Alien invasion.  I don't know as I would see it again but I thought it was cleverly done
