my pet peeve of the day....dog owners who LET thier dogs jump up on you. My GF does this & i Hate visiting her. & when dogs pooh on your lawn, afterwards they tear the crap outta your lawn trying to cover up thier mess (kwim)?

Lemon, that is MY biggest pet peeve about those shows! I'm a cook and would never even touch my face when cooking! We watched Chopped the other night and one of the chef's actually served his meal with a hair on it. Gag me!
My pet peeve is ... friends who invite you over to a party and it looks like they haven't cleaned their house in a year.

Okay, pet peeves are the subject! Let me see, let me see. Television shows that run over their allotted time schedule and mess up my taping is one. The network pre-empting a show for important news that I find is not important at all. The news media that takes a subject and won't let go but goes on and on and on.
Just a few of the television things that "drive me nuts." Of course there are plenty of others outside of television.

As of January Becca, in Oregon you will have to have a hands free device. It's already in Washington. This is also one of my "many" pet peeves.
When you go to a store to buy something on an ad on the day it comes out and they are out of it...

We've had that law in Massachusetts for a couple of years, no one pays attention to it. Unless peope in Oregon are more law abiding citizens, it may not help. Talking on the phone is really bad but text messaging???ARE THESE PEOPLE CRAZY???!!! I saw a post somewhere that people were actually defending the practice. Good grief, there is no defence. We had a tragedy here in Boiston as a result of some idiot text messaging while driving a trolley!! Killed many people and injured even more when he slammed into I think it was another trolley or bus (can't remember, I too suffer from CRS>LOL). He lost his job rightfully so and he will have to live with what he did for the rest of his life.

I agree that some will never abide by these laws, but that’s another issue.
I’m just glad cell phones are looked at seriously and laws are being made. I think it definitely helps and is a step in the proper direction...even if it takes time before more are on board.
My (then) 35 yr old cousin was punched in the face and robbed in the day time, near a busy street. She wasn’t in a car, just standing/talking (quite distracted) on her cell phone. She needed surgery on her eye. I felt terrible for her, but in my head was also, good grief, how duh to be so obviously distracted like that for some to take advantage of.

I was driving down the interstate yesterday and was reminded of a pet peeve of mine. People who get in the passing lane, stay there and won't budge. Usually they are going at or below the speed limit. You can't get around them because the driving lane is too busy and there is no where else to go. Are they that oblivious? Why are they in the passing lane if they have no intention of passing anyone? Drives me nuts!

Wouldn’t surprise me if the majority of pet peeves are about dumbbells who drive cars. 
I can’t stand the smell and sound of lawnmowers and leaf blowers – especially in small neighborhoods. It’s no mystery why some wear ear/lung protectors when operating them. We use electric ones even if they aren’t as super-duper powerful and I prefer to rake, anyway.

My next pet peeve is (yikes, another car pet peeve!) being able to hear the bass booming in the car next to mine at a stop light. Grrrr!

AAARGH the chewing with your mouth open and making slurping crunching noises irritates me to no end. Esp cracking gum! My mom and sister have a habit of chewing with their mout open and crunching and it drives me crazy. I don't want to hear or see your food.

I also can't stand the boom boom boom sound from cars!! It's not only noise pollution, it's dangerous.
Although my husband was careful, his nose blowing during dinner often frustrated me, especially with company. gasp! I wound up buying large hankies and he turns to the side now. If he sneezes, it's also to the side, inside his elbow. I'm a pretty good doggy trainer. lol

People that insist on saying "Irregardless". It's not a word! The phrase that drives me up the wall is, "At this point in time" and please don't use big words unless you know what they really mean. I work with someone who does this. We have a male co-worker who has a bit of a macho attitude toward women. The co-worker that bugs me keeps saying he's a mysogynist (sorry if I spelled it wrong.) He's not, he just thinks he's smarter!
Anyway, those are a few of my pet peeves! If I list them all, I'll just come across as being a grouchy, old lady, lol.

lmao, My coworker keeps using redundant to mean ridiculous and it drives me crazy, esp since he always corrects everyone else if they make a say a word wrong. I tried correcting him once but it made no difference

My best friend always says be time instead of by the time we get there. She just got a job as a nurse's aid at school and she called me to ask how you pronounce immunization.
Another pet peeve of mine is people who are ALWAYS late. In fact, 2 of my friends I will tell them that we are leaving 15 min to 1/2 hour before we are.

I've been saying NEWtella all my life...well, I grew up in NYC and my closest friend since childhood is Italian. ;-)
I think if it's a VERY difficult Swedish or German or other pronunciation, then I can understand changing some of the phonetics...however, the majority of times I prefer the real deal.
Can you imagine saying "peanot noear" for pinot noir? *shudder*

NYC? Oh well then, that explains everything. My friend from Long Island went shopping with me in Toronto many years ago and we went to a so-called italian store to get the ingredients for lasagna. She was most upset because the deli clerk couldn't provide what my friend called "ragawtha". I had always used cottage cheese in my lasagna and had never heard of ragawtha so I didn't know that it was just her way of pronouncing ricotta. (I had never heard of ricotta, either, this was 1974.) It takes all kinds as they say. Cheers!

I mentioned NYC to emphasize being used to hearing several languages growing up. But I never ever heard anyone pronounce ricotta that way as "ragawtha".
Some Italians sound the c almost like g as in "regatta". Maybe that's what she was aiming for.

My sicilian grandmother used to say it rigawta (no th sound). I thouught that was the name, never equated it with Ricotta until I was a teen and saw my mom making the lasagna and saw the cheese container,lol. My grandma also used to say "earl" instead of oil. I always thought we had an earl burner for heat in our basement as my mom adopted her mother's pronounciation.

This is one of MANY pet peeves. lol I finally put my $ where my mouth is. I put it off for so long and when I recently had a scare in a parking lot, I went online and bought this bumper sticker. I was walking to my car and someone backed out too close to me. He was on the phone/didn't even look to see me. I rarely answered my phone while in the car and now I CAN'T with this bumper sticker. haha Seriously, I'm glad I won't anymore. I will pull over if I think it's that important.
Please come to my house. I could keep you plenty busy for days. My pet peeve is my neighbors leaves fall in my yard which creates all this work.
