This a great show on the Travel Channel!  He goes to places in each location that the other travel shows do not go to, and eats weird things and always drinks the local drink.  It is very entertaining, check it out, I am sure you will enjoy it too!  They have it on our Discovery HD channel here in Canada too, it is so clear it is like you are there!

Bourdain ROCKS!!  Where was everyone 3 yrs ago when I posted about his show  No Reservations on MSN?  lol ;;

He's a fearless traveler and a fearless eater.  And he knows what he's talking about because he studied culinary arts and runs his own restaurant in NYC.

He transports you to the places he's at and you feel such an appreciation and respect for other cultures and their eating habits.  He has a sensitive and sensible  understanding of things and draws you in.

He writes well and is irreverent, funny, smart.
  I read one of his books, Kitchen Confidential.  He used to be on the Food Network and had a show called  A Cook's Tour which was a bit like the one he has now on Travel.

Tons of YouTube clips are out there if anyone wants to catch him in action.

     A new season starts in January.  yay!

>>>  MSN TV talked to Anthony Bourdain about the best and worst of food-related television.
Here's our rundown of the picks and pans with the chef's freewheeling commentary.

If anyone's interested in food-related shows I think this is worthwhile reading.  Bourdain knows what he's talkiing about and does it so well, imo.

I've watched his show when I stumble across it.  I'm not avid but enjoy the places he goes to.  I have to not watch on some of the things he eats.  It's like the gross food challange on survivor.
I watch Healthy Appetite with Elle Krieger.  I love her show and it doesn't hurt to have less salt, fat etc. and her dishes are extremely tasty.  Like any show there are some bad ones but usually very good.

Semi homemade I watch because the recipes are simple.  I steer away from ones that you have to spend a fortune to make.

I catch them all but other than the above two which I record..I see what they're doing for the day and decide if I'm going to watch them or not.

What is the time slot for No Reservations.  As I said, I usually just stumble across it.

10 pm/Mon is the regular time slot for NR, but I’m unclear of the present schedule because they’re showing repeats –check local listings or the home site for now.   Seems it's on Mon 11 pm for now.  It also shows at random times during the week.

Bourdain was never a Rachel Ray fan, but was always gentle about it.  I didn’t connect with many of her recipes, but I’m grateful for one of them, stuffed cabbage stoup (a stew-like soup).  I make it every winter - it has the flavors of stuffed cabbage that I remember growing up and plenty easier to make.  I don’t mix in the rice, rather I mound some on top of each stoup serving.  It includes smoked paprika and that stuff is heaven!  lol

I prefer quicker, healthier meals that involve less ingredients these days and I often experiment to make it fun.
I very rarely watch Food Network now, but I’ll check out Healthy Appetite.   :-)
