I don't stay up that late but I do watch Inside Edition and ET who are covering the situation. At first I admired Letterman for acknowledging his mistakes and being so upfront about everything including the blackmail. For some reason, I was thinking his affairs were in the past but from what I am seeing tonight they are not. His public declaration is hurting his family terribly.

I don't watch Letterman or any of the late night talk shows.  At first I too thought it was admirable for Dave to try and come clean to protect his family.  Now it seems as if Dave only admitted to something that everyone was going to find about anyway, which makes me the think the remorse is only a result of being caught.

That is usually the case.  Men don't seem to realize that women save things, like stained dresses, diaries, or whatever.  In Letterman's case Stephenie saved the diary she kept while she was with him.  Had she not done that we would never know.
