Lost was such a great show that first season but I stopped watching at the beginning of season three I believe. I have a really hard time with any show that goes on and on and on and never gets anywhere.

I can't wait for LOST to get back on TV! Here is the info: ABC has set the show's season premiere date. The show will open its fifth season with a two-hour premiere starting at 9 p.m. ET Wednesday, Jan. 21. It marks a return to Wednesdays for the show, which aired after "Grey's Anatomy" on Thursday nights at the end of last season. Other than the date and the episode titles -- "Because You Left" and "The Lie" -- ABC hasn't released any information about the new season. It's expected to run for 17 episodes -- with the 17th partially making up for last year's strike-shortened 14-episode season -- which would put the season finale in late April or early May. Yeah, I'm getting anxious for Lost to return. I've made up my mind to watch it the same way I did last season. I just quit trying ti figure it out, lol. It made it so much easier to watch when I just went with it and accepted every new plot twist. I figure eventually it'll be explained!

That is pretty much all you can do is to just go along with the plot, but it is still fun trying to figure it out! It will all be explained soon, if I remember correctly, the producers said there are 2 more seasons and then it ends with everything explained.

They do seem to be starting to answer some questions. I do know the creators were adamant about the time structure of it. AbC wanted more seasons since it was so popular but they didn't want to stretch it out anymore. They compromised by adding a few more shows on and stretching it a little bit but they promised a definite end to it. I love the show but I don't know if I would keep up with it if I didn't know there was an ending in sight. Heroes is starting to make me lose interest all together because of that

RE:LOST
(Date Posted:01/22/2009 08:17 AM)
I'm actually thrilled that they're talking about the time travel. They've hinted at it for a long time and I'm glad to see them finally attacj it straight on.
Basically, at the end of last season, Ben said moving the island was a last resort...and apparently this is the reason. The combination of moving the island and the Oceanic 6 (plus Desmond) leaving the island have thrown everyone on the island into some kind of crazy time leap thing that only bringing everyone back to the island can stop.
I have 2 thoughts on who could be wanting the blood work on Kate and Aaron. 1) Charles Widmore - in hopes that he'll send Kate running for help from the likes of Ben and Jack. 2) Ben - as a manipulation technique to send Kate his way to lure back to the island. Of all of the Oceanic 6, she has the least reason to go back so she needs something like the threat of losing Aaron to guide her.
I don't think the cops were working for Ben. He had a look of being put out, I thought. Ben and Jack hooked up at the tail end of last season. Jack had gone to the funeral home and no one was there. In the last episode, he finally opened the casket and we saw that it was Locke for the first time. As he did that, Ben came in and they had a conversation about getting back the island. And that everybody had to go. Well, the reason Jack was suicidal was due to feeling the need to get back to the island to help/save the people he left behind. So, with Ben having the same goal, they have teamed up with a common purpose.
Couple notes though: in his delusion, Ana Lucia specifically told hurley not to get arrested, so I'm interested to see how that plays out. Sayid is now with Jack and Ben...but doesn't want to go back. Kate (and Aaron) is on the run, has hooked up with Sun and and neither of them want anything to do with Ben (other than to kill him) much less want to go back. Desmond has his mission to find Faraday's mother...he doesn't even KNOW he has to go back yet. And they somehow have to find the island and drag the corpse of John Locke with them. Which makes me wonder...will he come back alive when they get him back to the island? I kinda think so.
And what's up with the redhead scientist? I can only assume that the time travel is killing her.

Whoa....The show was awesome! And my head is still spinning.
I am loving the time travel aspect as well, too cool. It was great to see some of the old characters that had been previously killed off, like Ana Lucia.
Can't wait to see how this all play's out. How in the world is Ben going to convince Sun to come back to the island? Unless she thinks that is the best way to kill him. Is Desmond really going to leave Penny again? He better take her with him if he is going back. Who has Sawyer hooked up with in the 3 years that have passed since the Oceanic 6 made it home? That last question plagues me the most.
Locke sure is getting the raw end of the deal thru all this time travel.
Okay, is it next Wednesday yet?

Thanks Jim, that clears some things up for me. I was so confused last night it wasn't funny. Ok, why does Desmond have to find Faradays mother?
Who are the military on the island, are they Dharma?
Forgot about Ana Lucia saying "don't get arrested" which leads me to believe it was a trap by Ben.

More answers:
First: to my own question about the redhead. Do you remember the episode when Desmond was time traveling and everntually had to find his "constant"? That was when he called Penny from the freighter. Well, he had to find his "constant" because if he didn't the time traveling would kill him...as prefaced by severe headaches and bloody nose. So, that's why Faraday is so concerned about her. If they don't stop time traveling or if she doesn't find a "constant"...she's dead meat.
Second: The older lady Ben was talking to at the end...in the same storyline of Desmond time traveling, she worked at the jewelry shop where Desmond went to buy Penny's engagement ring. She told him about the time traveling and let him know that despite knowing the past and future, that he couldn't change anything. How or why she has so much knowledge of all this, who knows?
Third: I'm not totally sure, but I'm pretty sure that this lady, the one Ben was talking to and who's met Desmond, is also Faraday's mother. She definitely appears to hold many keys to what is going on. And Faraday knows this as well as he knows that everyone needs to come back to the island. Sending Desmond to find his mother is his way of getting Desmond back to the island.
Since Desmond is gone from the island, his path can be changed a bit in the form of "memories" like the one Faraday gave him through his dream in last night's episode.
Something that connects THAT is how many times in the last couple episodes have we heard someone talk about Locke visiting them? Several, especially Jack. Well, they're off the island and Locke's still there...so how is he visiting them? He's giving them "memories" as they hurdle through time...at least that's my theory. Everyone was fine with their lives off the island, until receiving a "memory" and then they feel like they have to go back, much like Desmond now feels like he has to go to Oxford.
Does that make sense?

Jim My first thought on who is wanting Aaron and Kates blood test would be Claires Mom, she knew Claire was expecting when she got on the plane and here comes this woman back with a baby the right age and white hair like Claire. I didn't catch what Hurley said to Ben when he was being handcuffed, anyone remember?

You gave up writing survivor recaps...now you'll have to do Lost recaps. A lot of what you're saying makes sense. I would've never remembered that she was the woman at the jewelry shop. What a memory you have. Is Locke sending it to you? LOL

My theory on who wants the blood test for Aaron & Kate is that it's another manipulation by Ben. He arranged for the lawyers to show up knowing Kate would run. He probably firgured she'd get in touch with Jack, or one of the 6 and that would aid in Ben getting all 6 back together, to make it easier to get them all back to the island. Does that make sense?

RE:Lost
(Date Posted:01/29/2009 10:15 AM)
Last night was a good show in which we got some questions answered. I have some new questions too.
Desmond discovers from Widmore that Daniel's mom is not at Oxford but in LA, which is exaclty where Ms. Hawkings (older white haired lady) that Ben was last talking to is. So Jim, it looks like you called it right and she is Daniel's mother. The girl that was holding Daniel at gun point on the island --anyone else think she might be a young Mrs. Hawkings? She asked him, "why do you keep looking at me?" and he told her she reminded him of someone he knew. The girl would have been at about the right age in 1954 to be the older white haired lady in present time.
Charles Widmore was once on the island as an "other". It never occured to me that he was once on the island. So what did Ben do to get him off the island or take the island from him?
The girl lying in the bed that Daniel did something to. Was she the result of an experiment gone bad or what?

That's what I thought because when Desmond was talking to Widmore he pretty much said that. Because he was funding Faraday so he felt obligated to take care of her. Also the maintenance man asked Desmond about what he had done to the "girl" I think is the reason he left.
One other thing that I'm not getting is..how is Locke dead in the US and also back on the island. None of the other Oceanic six are appearing back on the island.
Good call on Hawkings being Faradays mom...but why wouldn't her name be Faraday?
I missed where it was said that Widmore was once on the island. I thought he was just looking for it.
Oh wait, another question..the lady in the butcher shop the one that's watching Lockes body, where does she fit in?

RE:Lost
(Date Posted:01/30/2009 12:52 PM)
Let me see if I can answer some of those, Jonsey.
She may have remarried or taken a fake name for some reason and that is why her name is not Faraday.
We now know that Widmore was on the island because when John first approaches Richard in the last episode Richard calls the "other" guy with the Jones uniform, Widmore. When John hear's this he says "Charles Widmore?" and the guy says that he is Charles Widmore. The time was 1954 according to Richard and Widmore looked like he was around 20 or so.
Locke is dead back with the Oceanic 6 because it is 3 years after they left the island. You seeing him now on the island is right after the Oceanic 6 have left so it is like 2004 on the island except now the island is time hopping so it is going even further back in time. It is before Locke died, although I don't think he is dead or will stay dead anyway.
We have seen pieces from the last 3 years of what has happened to the Oceanic 6 since they made it back. We haven't seen until now what the losties have been doing for the last 3 years.
I don't have a clue who the woman is at the butcher shop either.

Here's some info from another site that may make you more confused.
The van that Ben was driving said Canton Rainier Carpet Cleaning, for what it's worth Canton Rainier is an anagram for reincarnation. The title of this episode was "The Little Prince".
Okay, here's something: the piece of wreckage found from Rousseau's craft said "Besixdouze." That's a direct reference to the story The Little Prince, which this episode is named after.
The narrator in the book the little prince crash lands his airplane in the Sahara desert. It's there he encounters the little prince.
Besixdouze (B612) is the name of the planet (asteroid really) that the Little Prince lived on.
The story “The Little Prince” is a story about a prince who has to die to find his way home. “Besixdouze” was on one the debris from the Rousseau’s French crew. Besixdouze is also mentioned in “The Little Prince” and is the name of the asteroid on which the Little Prince lived. It stands for “B six twelve” or “B612”. The narrator of the book feels like life has no purpose until he crashes in the desert and meets the Little Prince. The Little Prince ends up having to die to escape his earthly body and return to his home, B612.
Why didn't Danielle recognize Jin later when she was found? How does Ben know that Jin is still alive?

This is Dr. Candle, he is the man from the Dharma video's.

In the episode from the week before last, it shows he and a woman in bed at the beginning of the episode. She tells him that it is his turn as we hear a baby crying. He gets up and goes to change this baby. I am wondering if the baby is going to turn out to be Miles.

Why isn't Faraday getting the nosebleeds? Now Sun wants to return. So once again they have to get Sayid, Hurley and Kate. Is Desmond one of them that has to go too?
The man that appeared to Jack in the end, what was it he said. I went to rewatch it and clicked on delete instead of play.

Faraday doesn't get the nosebleeds for the same reason that Desmond will no longer get the nosebleeds.
They've both found their "constants".
If you remember, Desmond started having the same issue in the episode where he was jumping through time while he was on the freighter. Faraday helped him find his constant (Penny) and he was ok. That's why they're both good to go. The rest of the people will need to do the same thing.
Originally, everyone that left the island was supposed to return...so that would include Ben, Desmond and now John Locke.
What I wonder now, though...is since Locke put the wheel back where it needs to be, does everyone still need to return? of course, Ben doesn't know this happened, so I'm sure they will try to get Sayid, Hurley, Kate and Aaron back in the fold. If he can do that, they all can return.
For what it's worth...my favorite moment from last night was when they asked Miles to translate for Jin, "He's speaking Korean. I'm from Encino." Classic Miles.
Also...I can't wait to find out what happened to Danielle's folks down in Smokey's hole. She had always said that they got sick...and the fact that her man was going to shoot her indicates that. Just curious to know what happened to them.
Also...I was thrilled to FINALLY see them at the Temple. The Temple has been mentioned several times, but we had never seen it before last night.
