Season 8 kicks off Tuesday, Jan 13th     And with more judging pleasure...4 of them now.

As much as the show can be strange and frustrating at times, I'm still watching.

Full schedule at this

I usually watch the first part of AI, the tryouts. I enjoy watching those who "think" they can sing as well as those who are truly gifted. The rest of the season, I just keep an eye out for who is making progress.

OK..if bikini girl shows up at the next audition with a bikini on...I'm going to hurl and to come out and plant one on Ryan was just sickening.

I love the new judge and she isn't going to take any crap from Simon.  The girl can sing too!

Ones that I liked were the girl with the multi colored hair, Stevie, the 16 year old, the oil rig worker and the blind guy.  There were a couple others but I can't remember who they were.

I'm also glad to see Kara, the new judge.   I thought the show was better than usual last night thanks to, in part, the editing.   Looks like a leaner and less offensive program in store.   I believe the recent death that occurred near Paula's home has something to do with that.

I forgot all the names except Stevie, but don't remember what she looked like.   The person who stands out in my head right now is the teen with the long brown hair...very cute/pretty with great personality and sang well.   Kara was mesmerized by her it seemed.

I won't be home tonight to watch the show.   arrrrrr!

JUST remembered....the guy with the super deep voice got me laughing when he sang.  When Randy covers his face with his papers, that gets me going, too.   The deep voiced guy reminded me of another one last year who sounded hilarious when he sang, "let my people goooo"

We watched Tuesday night and thought it was a good show.  Several we enjoyed and several we giggled along with Randy at.  We recorded last night and haven't had a chance to watch yet.

I like Kara and hope she continues to add to the show.  Paula just gets on my nerves.

I really like the new judge. She brings a lot to the table with her experience and she isn't afraid to render a judgment. Loved the dust up between her and bikini girl. Bikini girl --great body but sorry honey --ya don't have the talent to go too far.

They let a David Archeletta clone through--can't remember his name but he was just after the crying wanna be rocker dude. He sounded like he was peeing pennies on a cold tin roof yet they let him go on to hollywood-----arrghhh.

Bottom line is I guess I'll hang in there and keep watching.

Cheers

I need to finish watching last week's show already!   I'm now eager to see the guy who looks like Downey.

That must have been some Thanksgiving turkey, Sue.

Janet:  I don't remember anything in my throat called a trayshea and I don't sing from my rectum.

Maddie:  No, she sang from the wrong rectum.
LOL!   But it was also getting on my nerves listening to some of Aquila's pronunciations.

I'd like to see the theater guy, Adam, make it to final 12.   Lotsa drama on AI is a good thing.  ;-)

Oversinging abounds as Kara and Simon continue to battle each other

27-year-old self-professed "failed entrepreneur" Dean-Anthony Bradford's singing was over-the-top, but it was his ugly coat that had the judges' heads spinning.

There have been several put through that I like and I think the reason they put through some duds is because it makes the job of eliminating some right off the bat a little easier.

Oh Aquila..I was cracking up with her pronunciations.  Then it got irritating.  So many delusional people.

I honestly don't think the sad cowboy dude was threatening them.  I think he's just a little backwards and was trying to say something like take it easy. IMO

They blew it out of proportion regarding the cowboy guy.   It was a hyped up moment that turned out to be nothing.   I wondered if they completely misunderstood this person's farewell which in no way was threatening, but that would be saying they're all that stupid...scary thought!  lol

Maddie/Janet also shared thoughts about that moment - the youtube menu here isn't allowing it to show up, so, a link to it.

Aaron Williamson of Louisville, Ky., threw the judges for a loop when he marched into his audition and proclaimed that he wanted to be "America's Next Top Model."     (LOLLLLL  I enjoyed seeing him - not qualified, but loved the energy!!)

Oh did Paula get her nose out of joint last night.  When the three others really were ignoring her and she said something to that effect.

Basically, I haven't really heard any stand out voices but all that will change when they get it whittled down,  There are some good singers but they are all sounding the same to me.

From what I have seen they have let some real turkeys through to Hollywood. I can't believe how deluded some of these ppl are thinking they have the talent. It also doesn't help that the family and friends are tone deaf or just don't have the nads to tell them they stink.

Paula has ceased to be a credible judge since she can barely say no even to someone sounds like a hyena passing a kidney stone. The new judge , Kara, can throw the gloves down if need be.

>>> a hyena passing a kidney stone    That cracked me up - and some do sound like that!
It's nothing less than strange that some "truly" believe they sound good...and then throw in some ignorant family/friends who surely don't help matters.
The woman who sang "Loving You" is one example.  But I'm still glad they chose to include her in the editing of last night's episode.   I was impressed that she reached that high note.   ;-)

This is your brain on "Idol": Looking like he just arrived dazed and confused from a Phish concert, George Ramirez of Jacksonville, Fla., utterly baffled judges with a barely coherent rendition of "Walking on Sunshine." Randy said, "That was by far the quietest audition I've ever heard." Kara could only say, "That was so weird." So weird, and so long to this walking public service announcement.   (LOL)  full recap at this link

                                 xoxoxo  Very good one, gals!

I don't like Simon/Randy sitting in the "wrong" place either!  I was kinda losing my balance.  ;-)

Looking forward to see how David Osmond progresses - such a lovely person, imo.
I'm a *little bit* Marie's age and a *little bit* Donny's.  I grew up with them and LOVED watching their variety show in the 70's.  I hid that fact from my friends who would've teased me endlessly.  But now, who cares!  ;-)

LOL Becca.  I'm more a little Marie than a little Donny and I watched their show
too.  So I won't be teasing anyone.  Did you not think that Donny was the hottest hunk on tv?
I can't believe I just said that.

I can't believe I just READ that!  lol    I actually had a crush on Mac Davis who also had a variety show around the same time.   Did I just say that?  ;-)

I CAN'T STAND that Alexis Cohen!  Who on earth thought it would be a good idea to bring her back to AI?
She gives me the CREEPS!    I gotta erase her image fast now....

How about  *a little bit nostalgic*  Warrning: after 20 seconds they attempt some Beatles songs.

The recappin' ladies are now in the house.  link    They were too nice towards Alexis, imo.
But I'm happy with Oh Lord, is this woman still around?

Oh Becca, that was fun and Donny with those sunglasses...to funny.  Sad part...Marie looks better now then she did then.  That show was so sacchrin!  Must've been before my "hippy period."  I remember Mac too.  Got a You Tube of him for me?

My crush on Mac was for a very short time.  He sang not to get hooked on him...no problem!  ;-)

I wasn't sure who I wanted gone more...bikini girl or the one with the annoying laugh, Tatiana del Toro.
I'm worried that they'll give Tatiana a spot in the final 12.  She can't possibly win this, though.

I am so glad bikini girl is gone and remain hopeful that annoying laugh girl won't be much longer.  I really like the guy who lost his wife, I think his name is Danny.  I like Adam a lot too, and a few others stand out.

That first group were really really good together.

Tatiana's still around and my worries have increased   lol    It's all about her drama.
I really like Jamar and counting on seeing him in final12.

Jamar Rogers, a Milwaukee native, is Danny's best friend. And folks, he's just as talented. His rendition of "Hey There Delilah" was funky, possessing a cool Ben Harper-like vibe. He deserves to make it to the next round.

Tatiana ---Oh my--she does make me crazy but she did have a very good performance last nite if you ignore her ending 20 second Mariah Carey divalike  hiccup. If this nervous twitch should ever by any set of circumstances, which would signal the apocalypse, become American Idol, then I predict sales of Prozac in the recording industry would triple.

The new judge Kara continues to impress me with her sound judgment and obvious talent. Paula is rapidly becoming just a showcase bobblehead who seriously needs to have her butt clued to her chair so that she can at least be seen to be somewhat objective.

I thought the way they handled telling the rooms of contests about their fate bordered on the criminally sadistic.

Tonite should be another brutal show.

Cheers
