RE:First Impressions of the show and cast

Oh yea, that Russell is something! Anyone's wealth or lack of it means nothing to me in this game, though.
I don’t recall ever seeing a strategy like his…wearing your own tribe down to gain control. Who knows, but it’s weird as Jeff pointed out in the first impressions video. I don’t like it. The contestants have it rough enough as it is and his rubbing it in makes it extra difficult for me to watch. (My) Jaison’s feet were cold!!
I liked how the tribes picked a leader and that the leaders chose who played in the first CHALLENGE. I don’t recall ever seeing that, either.

Overall, I enjoyed the whole episode. In a way, I wish it had been longer BUT, I really don't think I could have handled seeing much more of russell trying to sabotage his own tribe. I really want him to be voted out quickly, except I have a feeling no one will wise up to him fast enough and we'll be stuck with him almost to the end.

WOW Russel makes all the other villians of past seasons look like saints!! He is despicable but I think we will have to put up with him for awhile. He really is stupid though. Right now you need your team to be strong so you win and don't go to tribal counceil. Towards the merge is when you might want to weaken them but not now! Why even go on the show if you don't need or want the money? He just relishes being cruel and evil and he does it with relish. This is not some game play for him, this is how he actually is. I am sure of it. WHat a slime ball. Ben along with him,he is just as obnoxious as Russell and it wouldn't surprise me if he is just as evil. JT was experienced outdoorsman and was charming and did not feel the need to be a jerk. I hope Ben and Russell take that long walk to losers loung together very soon. I never thought I would say I miss Coach but I think I do.

First off, the scenery is beautiful. I love when they go to the beach. Oh that blue water!!! I hate Russell H. already, but he isn't the first wealthy person to be on the show. Just last season we had Taj and Brendon and we liked them. Then one hour is just not long enough to get to know 20 people. I wish Jeff would address that in his blog. Also, will the new group of castaways never learn to dress properly. One gal was wearing heels.I kind of like Mike more than I thought I would. Some of them barely said a word after they picked who they wanted for their leader. Finally I can't wait to see the physical battle (challenge) next week. I always love those the best.

Well, I just didn't like Russell at all! What a jerk. Doesn't he realize that the very people he is screwing over are the people who will have to vote for him (or not) if he makes it to the final two. I don't think he has thought this strategy all the way through. Hopefully Betsy will convince her tribemates what a truly awful person he is. I really liked her and Shambo, and Natalie is from my home state so I'll probably be pulling for her when we get to see and learn more about her. But please get rid of Russell as soon as possible.

The show sickened me, it really did. If the producers want to know why they are no longer nominated for an Emmy award for best reality show, casting is the exact reason why. The casting directors suck big time. Who in their right minds would cast Russell to play Survivor? Probably the same people who took over the A & E channel and trashed it. I know it is difficult to keep a show interesting and worthy of viewing but this is NOT how you do it. Survivor used to be a top notch show to watch but it definitely has jumped the shark.
Russell is not there to play the game, he is there to have FUN. What fun it is to torture people, watch them squirm and turn on each other, what fun it is to take a young woman's dream of being on Survivor and trash it! Yea, what fun! Marissa is from Ohio, not one of the plastic people from California. She wanted to play the game of Survivor and just because she dared to call Russell on his actions, he squashed her dreams and her hopes. Yea, what fun! The man probably tortured small animals when he was young just for the fun of it. I pray that he is not married and does not have children. I can just imagine the hell they must have gone through.
I am seriously thinking of not watching the rest of the season. I am so damn disappointed. My beloved Survivor, the show that I have watched from the first day of the first season, now SUCKS!

I feel the say way, CindiLou! I went to bed last night thinking, "What happened to Survivor that they have to cast someone who is vindictive?!" That's not family entertainment in my book!
On the other hand, I thought Mick and the other Russell seemed to be weird picks for leaders but turned out to be very good picks.
John, swimming in jeans, was ridiculous. Even I know not to do that!
I'm loving Shambo and Betsy!

Bravo Cindi! I find myself in total agreement with you! I was so looking forward to the show but after last nite's display I am disheartened by how far Survivor has gone off the rails. For year's I have been railing about the increasing lazy casting by the umbrella drink social butterflies who nest in LA.
I don't think a person like Russel is an interesting castaway or needed to bring so called viewability to the show. He is just a vile human being who probably has a backyard filled with mass graves of dead kittens--LOL.
I also think as do you that S has finally jumped the shark this time--I will continue to watch and hope things improve but there comes a time when ya have to put the poor sick dawg down!
Cheers

First of all, what breathtaking scenery. I love that opening shot and when Jeff said in an interview that he never got wet, I was amazed.
As with everyone, it literally turned my stomach to watch Russell dumping that water and burning peoples belongings. Isn't there a rule about taking peoples belongings. I know Rupert did it but it seems after that some rule was put into play. Evidentally not. Survivor doesn't need to have this kind of contestant to get me to watch. Coach, as much as I disliked him was not evil. This man has got a screw loose and I hope like hell it's him that get's kicked out of the challange.
I'm on the Jaison, Betsy wagon. There are a few more I like but I need to see more air time.
I also loved how they started this show. Not so much time showing the traveling or how they got to where they were going. The teams were picked and it went straight to game on. They need to do this in the future. It gave us more camp and interview time.

It is a great location, and if you have an HD TV, it looks even better!
Russell was an odd choice to be on the show, it must be an experiment to see what happens in the ratings with people talking about him like we are. Dumping the water and burning those socks was a very low point in the history of Survivor, but it will be interesting to see how the season turns out though.

Unless I suddenly remember someone else, BEN has to be THE worst contestant I have ever seen on this show. It's difficult to believe how much he got away with tonight. I would vote him out so fast - physical strength or not.
Here's where I have ??? about why a contestant was picked. MIKE? That gut of his often looked like a heart attack waiting to happen. I noticed it last week. I'm really surprised he passed the physical, but who knows. It was pretty sad watching his final moments on the show. Glad he got out of there before things could have gotten worse. But he's still the reason Betsy went tonight! grrrrr

Someone at another site said that Mike had tried out a few years ago because questions about his blood pressure. So I agree Becca, why let him still come out this year after it's very obvious that he was totally out of shape.
Ben sickens me. I don't have any more words than that.

Wow, Ben made Russell look good this week. It's too bad they're both on the same tribe. We're not getting much of a look at Galu.
Mike was supposed to be on last season and had medical problems. He conditioned and got himself into shape so that he could be on this season.

It was sad about Mike and scary, I am glad they got him out of the game when they did. I can't stand Ben and believe it or not, I found evil Russell somewhat entertaining last night.
Betsy was awesome....now I am left with Jaison.
