'Survivor: Samoa' Recap: Down Goes Russell!

The medical team has their hands full as a scary moment at a challenge changes everything.

By Dalton Ross:

There are three times I've been legitimately scared while watching Survivor. The first was when Mike Skupin in Australia stood there with his hands melting off. The second was when Bobby Jon's eyes rolled back into his head after that brutal hike through the Guatemalan jungle. The third — and worst by far — was when I once saddled up to the refrigerator right before an episode and realized I was out of Milwaukee's Best.

Dalton wrote, page 3:

Is it just me, or were some really confusing conversations going on at Galu?
First, Shambo and Erik entered into some sort of bizarre competition to see who could bust out the most triple-negatives in a sentence.

Shambo was looking for reassurances that Erik wasn't voting for her, and then explained why she did not feel reassured:

"Obviously, it doesn’t if you're not telling me you're not writing my name down." To which Erik replied: "Just because I'm not telling you I'm not writing your name down doesn't mean I'm not writing your name down."
So…wait, you are writing her name down then?  Because I think after untangling that entire knot of nots, that's what you're saying.

But even more confusing was watching Erik and John for some odd reason decide to communicate their voting strategy to Shambo through secret code, even though they were all right next to each other with no one else in sight.    Dalton goes on more about this and it's also funny.

I caught that first one between Shambo and Eric. I was like wait didn't she just tell he that she wasn't saying she wouldn't write his name down and he didn't get upset? WOw they really are tired and losing it

Same here, bubu.   I think my eyes crossed automatically when I heard that part.

Hate Evil Russell all you want, but he's the toughest one out there and playing this game more than the rest of his tribe combined. Maybe he's right when he describes his tribemates as "worthless, no good, nothing. They’re just a bunch of babies.

While I was watching the rain scene, my mind was saying, "They are a bunch
of babies because they are all from sunny California and have no idea of how to do anything in the rain!"

OK, so you're shelter is leaking horribly, you're wet anyway..why not get you're lazy butts up
and go get more stuff to pile on the top and around it.  It won't make you dry if you're wet but maybe next time it rains, it will keep you a little more sheltered.  Also could never understand why no one builds a shelter over the fire.  I think they could make it tall enough that it catching on fire wouldn't be a problem.  I've never seen any huge fire built anyway.

I tend to agree with you there, cindi, but make that sunny southern CA.

CA is HUGE and the northern part gets rained on plenty for the winter.   I lived there for 20 yrs and we weren't afraid of some activities in the rain if it stayed warm enough, like above 50.  That's why I can deal with OR most of the time.

;-)

I just remembered that Brett and Laura are from OR and they weren't all that in the rain, either.   Russel S. seemed to be the only one trying to accomplish something.  Whether it was a good idea or not...he was the only one.

Call me crazy, but evil Russell is starting to grow on me.   I don't mean that I like him as person because he is a little troll, but I do like him as a player.

I have had a hard time finding people to like this season.  I liked Betsy and Jaison but Jaison is a bit too whiney sometimes.   So I think I may have to root for Russell too.
