Good point, Becca.

My husband brought that up as well and thought it was extremely unfair.

Jeff Probst 'Survivor: Samoa':  Episode 7

Image (1) jeffprobst2_l_21_2.jpg for post 1171

Fair Warning:
I haven’t been feeling too well for the past few days, so tonight as I sat down to write this I took a Zyrtec. It certainly cleared up my sinus issue but in doing so has made me really drowsy.  Major drowsy. So this is my first blog written under the influence of an “over the counter, readily available at any pharmacy” drug. Here goes…

Boy, Jeff was reallly under the weather and influence of Zyrtec.  His blog
was all over the board and made no sense some of the time.  But that's OK.
I don't remember Jeff ever admitting to being sick.

Loved this comment.  This is why I'm finally on the Russell train.  He's playing the game!

Russell’s HUGE move to play the idol is yet one more pencil in his jar of “this is how ya do it.”

RUSSELL: “Figure it I have it I might as well play it.”

NOTE: To all future Survivor players… You Don’t Hold Onto The Idol If You Have The Slightest Concern You Are In Trouble.

If you have it and you think you need it – play the damn thing.

Russell is playing to win. He doesn’t care about second place. He may not make it, but with each passing week you have to respect the game he is playing.

Last night Jeff never asked if anyone who has the HII would want to use it.  Russell just offered it up to him.  Jeff doesn't address this in his blog either. Wonder what is with that?

Jeff Probst blogs 'Survivor: Samoa': episode 9

INSIGHT: While we’re on the subject of hidden immunity idols.  A lot of people have been asking me why I have not been asking “If anybody has the idol and you want to play it now is the time to do so…” before I read the votes.  Here’s why – this season the clues have all been secretive.  So there is no way for me to be certain that everybody knows there is an idol in play.  Therefore, I can never ask for them to play it at tribal council because I might be giving something away.

Thanks, Tanya! I knew there had to be a reason for Jeff not to mention using the idol.

Thanks for the info Tanya.  I haven't read his blog yet.  He did mention the HII last night I noticed, so I figured there had to be a good reson for not mentioning it before.

Totally agree with Jeff's blog this week especially the part about starting to like Russell.
I hadn't realized that Jeff wasn't mentioning showing the idol.  I must pay better attention.

Jeff Probst blogs 'Survivor: Samoa': Episode 10

Erik: “And there goes the lead.”

It’s appropriate that Erik’s comment starts this blog since the downfall of Galu all started with Galu voting out Erik, one of their own.

Survivor hindsight is no different than any other hindsight, it’s always 20-20.  But man… if they only knew what they were starting, ‘ole Erik would probably still be wearing those black knee highs and most of the Foa Foa would be gone.

Jeff: Jaison could barely be bothered to pick up a rock.  Dave was merely following Russell and in doing so nearly stumbled upon the idol but because he is so concerned with Russell he walks away from it and chases back after Russell.  Hilarious.

That whole scene was crazy, how did they loose him?  And Jeff is right, they were so concerned about Russell that they forgot the whole point.

Darn it!   I often wish Jeff was blogging years ago...even though that word wasn't in anyone's vocabulary then.   It would have save me plenty of time trying to explain how I viewed the nature of this game.   That there's no such thing as "the" way to play all the time, etc., etc.   I would've just copied Jeff's words...much easier!  lol

Just did a quick scan and found this comment from Jeff:

Jeff Probst

As always thanks for your feedback. Russell is clearly the “favorite” which yes is fun to read since so many of you told me you were turning off your tv sets because of Russell. Haven’t you learned to trust me just a wee little bit? Natalie appears to be another clear favorite which is interesting to me. I agree with you guys but wasn’t sure how much of that was coming across in the epiodes because she’s playing a very subtle game tucking herself inside Russell’s no doubt smelly underarm.

BRIAN C – When there are seven people left in a game for a million dollars, they each have a one in seven shot of winning. That, my friend, is the basic math you refer to in your post. As for the rest of my redundant comments, you either are “in” on the joke and the fun of it or you aren’t. Pull the stick out and laugh a little.

CHRISTINA – When it comes to DMB I am pretty confident. Do a lyric check – it’s Gravedigger by Dave and the boys. If I’m wrong, let me know.

MANIPULATION – To those of you who honestly believe we are telling Russell where the idols are, I can only say this – we aren’t. We have never cheated and helped certain people win. We could never get away with it. If we tried and somebody spoke up, or one of our crew members told one of their family members, or a disgruntled Survivor decided to use it against us – any of those scenarios would result in the end of Survivor and the loss of hundreds of millions of dollars for Mark and CBS. We just don’t do it. Russell is just playing a fun and smart game and the rest of the people are a step behind. It’s really that simple.

PRODUCT PLACEMENT -I have four words for you: Get used to it. TIVO and the internet has thrown the advertising world into a tailspin. At the end of the day television shows are merely the stuff inbetween the commercials. Advertisers are what pay for television shows. Because people are watching shows and skipping commercials or watching them online without commercials -these days one of the only ways advertisers can get their product seen is to put it within the body of the show where they know you will see it. Sprint is one of the reasons Survivor is still on the air. The biggest reason Survivor is still on the air though – loyal fans. Thank you for the continued support. Glad you’re digging the season.
